some testing for the 3.4.0 prerelease

The 3.3.x tests do OK with the old versions of dejagnu, expect, and tcl
I had on those machines, but 3.4 doesn't.  I updated the versions and
reran the tests; the result (for Solaris SPARC) is at

The versions I now have:

Expect version is	5.40.0
Tcl version is		8.4
Framework version is	1.4.4
