Stability is important for what I'm doing and I'm not sure how
stable the snapshots are, so I've been staying with releases. Also,
on my Sparc 2 a distribution takes 6.5 hours to build and about
100MB of disk space; therefore, there is a limit to how many copies
I can keep around or how often I can pick up and build snapshots
and still get useful work done.

These kinds of bug reports against earlier versions are inevitable
with any software; there is just no way to avoid them. It would
appear that developers will generally have a pretty good idea when
a bug report is irrelevant for current code because the bug has been
fixed and can therefore ignore such reports with minimal
    inconvenience.

If the egcs group would prefer _not_ to receive bug reports against
any earlier version once a snapshot has been released, I'd suggest
adding a note to this effect on the egcs web page and I will be
    glad to comply.

    I heartily agree.
