If you get a clean regression test, go ahead and commit the patch.

I was hoping to get the rest of the whitespace cleanup done before
a merge, but I have nearly zero time to work on gfortran due to an
unexpected work related issue.

I've been testing and committing Chris' patches as soon as I get
some time to do it (there is one sitting in my inbox if I'm not
mistaken).  I'll be on travel from 13-28 Mar 07, and should have
nights to work up testcases and review parts of the patch.
