thanks for the tip Jason. I'll try this.

I reviewed the ChangeLog, and came to the conclusion the only changes
SGI didn't incorporate or otherwise fix where the aforementioned
auto_ptr bug and the libstdc++-v3 version of stl_config.h (which is
based on the egcs version + mods for the new macros). If somebody
would like to volunteer to do a more elaborate review, I would look
forward to seeing it.

Again, it was (and still is) my intention to stick as closely to the
official SGI release as possible. Obviously, existant bugs should be
fixed. (But in both the v3 source tree and the SGI codebase--we
shouldn't diverge.)

It was my understanding that the egcs/libstdc++ operated under much
the same procedure. . .
