I sent my patch to SGI some days ago, perhaps to late.
In any case is my patch necessary and correct and the SGI's code
is dangerous as I wrote in my message with the patch.
BTW.
It would be a wrong way to go without own improvements to the SGI's code.
It would discourage people who want help to develop a good implementation
of the standard library.
