This should be "make bootstrap"

add install-directory/bin to your $PATH

You want want to add install-directory/lib to your $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
(or what it called on your target).

I volunteer to write this, if someone will point me to the place where
it will go, and tells me what markup language to write it in.
