I am not very familiar with subversion, but one thing that concerns me
about it at the moment is that it appears to make a round trip for
every updated file. For example:

write(7, "GET /repos/svn/!svn/ver/6452/tru"..., 315) = 315
select(8, [7], NULL, NULL, {120, 0}) = 1 (in [7], left {119, 424000})
read(7, "HTTP/1.1 200 OK\r\nDate: Sun, 13 J"..., 4096) = 463

This makes checkouts and updates very slow. I hope this gets fixed.
Even if the protocol doesn't allow for pipelining, the subversion team
is relatively notorious for their willingness to incompatibly change
the protocol, which I suppose is a good thing in this case.
