Florian,
I'm surprised that it would take 15 hours to build gcc. I'm on sun hardware
(solaris 2.8, ultra-5; 400 mhz cpu) and the builds take on the order of 1
to 2 hours.
Any ideas why this would take so long? What is the system doing?

Normal, maybe, but certainly not expected.
Perhaps this info could be added to install/specific.html
