gdb 5.1.1 should be available soon (AFAIR might january) and will
include fixes so that it can read the dwarf2 produced by GCC 3.1.

I don't see problems for GCC since users of the final GCC 3.1 will not
have a problem and developers will soon be happy again - or can use
gdb from CVS like they use GCC from CVS.
