I'd say have such a section. If you carry over the reference names for
those questions from the old faq.html, then people will find links to them
work again. As questions become obsolete, they can move to that section,
with a note indicating the version with which they became irrelevant.

This particular question (one of very few with contributions from users
who aren't regular GCC contributors) should be merged into the general
documentation of sources for binaries that is now in doc/install.texi.
In general, anyone with significant contributions should get a mention in
contrib.texi for FAQ contributions.
