1. What's wrong with the change? Surely some modifcation of it
(to move it into a target-dependent file, for example) would
work?
2. It's not really correct to describe the GNUPro sources as
non-public.
The GPL protects the rights of people receiving GNUPro releases
just as much as it does people receiving FSF release. There's
no way I know of to take GPL'd code and distribute it to someone,
without allowing them to distribute it further -- that's the
whole point of the GPL. So, if the GNUPro sources aren't widely
available, that's only because GNUPro customers don't choose to
distribute them!
If people have GNUPro releases that contain things not in the FSF
release, they might want to consider posting the code so that other
people can benefit from those improvements.
