Why would this be useful? Say if double-byte encoded characters are being used for code
comments, and the 2nd byte of the last character in a '//' comment happens to be a \.
Specifically this happens often for Japanese comments encoded in Shift-JIS or EUC. The usual
workaround is to add a non-offending character at the end of the line when the error comes up.
I'm aware of other workarounds and also "-Wcomment"... just wondering if there is any demand out
there for such an option.
