What about opening the GNU manual(s) ?
Somewhere there should be printable PDF-versions for the GNU manuals, I could now find
only the online HTML-manuals for binutils,
If one knows/remembers that there are companies providing prebuilt GNU development tools,
and that they usually provide PDF docs for these tools, then one finds those manuals, like :

http://www.codesourcery.com/sgpp/lite/arm/portal/release1039

for Linux/ARM tools. The manuals though are generic, the 'ld' manual here seemed to be for
Linux 'binutils-2.19.51'... A Linux-user of course would like to have GCC, glibc, gas, etc.
manuals too in one's "bookshelf"...
