Yes, but -- that's yet another item for the release managers and yet
another source for mistakes or omissions.  As have happened for the
last couple of releases as Ralf noticed.

Did you look at the unversioned page?  I did before acking the patch
and it has nice pointers to the individual pages at a prominent place.

Also, I have a policy of not arbitrarily breaking links and so will
make sure we have proper redirection in place (at least that's the
plan ;-).  And I kind of like the idea of giving users an easy way
to compare the different versions and gently pull them towards a later
one.

That said, I don't want to approve this is there is strong disagreement.
Another way of addressing the original bug report would be adjust 
htdocs/branching.html to ensure this reference is going to be updated
in the future.
