bug in reflection isolated to simple example

I have the test suite from CVS. I could try to make the 12 December release
candidate run against it. It comes with a Makefile.am and Makefile.in.

I don't know how to do make "am/in" and what that means. How do you run
these things? Do I need to get some other stuff, before these "am, in"
things work?
