Great news!

I now have:
*  Uptime:   0 days,   4 hours,   12 minutes

* I changed logging from "debug" to "minor" to avoid memory eating
  gcj utilities
* lowered max threads to 20
* some minor tweaks to the environment
   in the freenet directory:
   # ln -s src/freenet .
   # ln -s src/javax .

I now runs very nicely with fproxy, nodestatus and console.

Seems like upcoming gcj-3.1 will be better than expected,
I have previously stated that a gcj-compiled fred
would not be possible before gcj-3.2.
Happily I concluded that the GCJ team has proved me wrong.

Next, optimization:
now I just use "-g", lets see what happen if "-02" is added.

happy hacking,
