I'm not familiar enough with gdb scripting to implement this, but if
someone fix _.gdb script, I can test the correct fix. In the mean
time, I have installed the patch that disables simulate-thread testing
on alpha-linux. The timeout does not work and consequently, the
resulting log fills all available disk space, so we have to be careful
there.
