libffi isn't currently set up to be buitl separately.
There was discussion about this on libffi-discuss, but it looks like
it stalled.

Basically, yes, there are many people who want separate libffi
releases.  I'm sure they will happen someday.  I think there are
still copyright ownership negotiations going on, and folks are
somewhat distracted by that.
