Can't compile gcc-3.3.2 - /home/mitchell... Permission denied

I'm starting with the source downloaded from both a mirror off of
gnu.org and sunfreeware.com.  I'd love to use a precompiled binary, but
I need to install to /usr/local/gcc/gcc-3.3.2 as I support numerous
versions in my environment.
