GCC 3.2 warnings

I've repeatedly come across the situation where I get a mess of many
warnings, but no errors and a bad status is returned and the compilation
fails. Is this because gcc by default bails out if there are too many
warnings? If so, it would be nice if it said so! Is there a way to
supress the behavior, or has is been fixed in 3.2.x or 3.3?

Thanks,
