Benchmarks

I would be more than happy to work on such an effort. It's always a good
idea to take control of one's own fate; in this case, GCC can only
benefit from a "free-as-in-speech" suite of benchmarks.

Is this list the best place to discuss this? I could put together a
rough draft of what people have suggested, and open it for discussion.
