He reappeared some time ago (October 2001), got write access and installed
changes from a branch of the port that he'd been maintaining separately,
thereby reverting various changes that had happened in GCC CVS in the mean
time.  I pointed this out

least some of the problems but apparently never added himself to
MAINTAINERS at all.  I don't know if he wants to be listed as port
maintainer.
