Dear Kaveh and all,
As discussed on the GCC summit regarding our work on optimizing for
space, we started designing and implementing a public codesize
benchmark. Here is the outline:
- it will measure daily cvs checkouts of the mainline and store the size
data in a local database
- a user could access the results using a web interface by setting some
arguments such as the time-period and target chips of interest
- based on that a plot will be provided showing the tendency of the
effect of -Os and -O2 on code size
- we provide an initial testbed, which could be modified based on
community's feedback
- which targets to include? in the first phase we are planning for ARM
(and Thumb), MIPS, x86, (which 64bit target?)
- more advanced features are also planned, such as download possibility
for offline use, personalized web interface for uploading custom
measurement data, etc.
Your feedback will be much appreciated!
BR,
Arpad Beszedes
