Stack walking help

Hello,

I am working on the implementation of the quick C-- compiler runtime
system, and I need to be able to walk over C frames. At a minimum, I
need to be able to skip past C frames, and at best I would like to
find callee saves registers. If possible, I don't want to have full
debugging information included in the compiled code. I also don't want
to have to depend on use of an explicit frame pointer. Our compiler
emits information about call-sites that I can use to learn about most
of the stack, I just need to fill in any gaps caused by passing
through C code.

I have developed some code that works fairly well on x86, but -- there
has to be a better way... *sigh*

Can anyone suggest some ideas or pointers that may be helpful?

Thanks,
Paul Govereau
