Error compiling GCC 3.0.4

Hi....
I am compiling GCC 3.0.4 after extracting it from your site via CVS.

I am building the objects into a directory other than the source files... as 
per build recommendations i found on a web page somewhere.

One of the files within the source directory does not have write permission 
thus causing a build failure.

gcc/libf2c/libU77/stamp-h.in

when i set it using  chmod u+w stamp-h.in" the build continued without a 
problem. Its still going so I do not know if everything else is ok yet :o)

This is only my 2nd day using mandrake 8.2 in anger.... and i like it already 
compared to microbloat windoze!!
