This doesn't guarantee the GNU make will be used in sub makes.  It must
be in your PATH or you must export MAKE before you configure the package.
Same for as and ld.  Recommend using "--with-as=" and "--with-ld=" to
specify specific locations for these tools.

> make[2]: *** [c-parse.c] Error 1

You didn't show the actual error.
