You won't be able to install the C++ part of GCC for any GCC version
before 2.95.3 on a GNU/Linux box with glibc 2.2.x, because a glibc change
broke compatibility between the C and C++ libraries.  If you really,
really need to have egcs 1.1.2 on that box, a relatively small patch will
fix the problem, but I don't have the cycles to track it down for you.
(also, the patch was for 2.95.2 so it would probably need to be backported)
