gcc installation and configuration error

Hi all 
I m having some problems with gcc which i have installed on solaris 8


./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc  -I/usr/local/include 
-L/usr/local/lib) 
works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot 
create executables.
