It was not clear from your Build Status Page whether the listing for
i686-pc-linux-gnu was for 2.95.2 or 2.95.3, so I thought I would send
you an e-mail telling that I built and installed 2.95.3 successfully
last week. For configuring, I used --enable-languages=c++,java,objc.
The build took 23 minutes using a 400MHz Pentium II MMX with 256MB of
ram. I mention this figure because when I built 2.95.2 about a year ago
I had no idea how long the build would take and that build ended up
taking 27 minutes. I thought perhaps others might be interested in how
much time a build could take.
I also built and installed LINUX kernel 2.2.18 using 2.95.3, but some of
the kernel documentation regarding what compiler to use was somewhat
frightening. I don't understand why they were not in favor of using the
2.95 series GCC compilers since last year I built both 2.2.14 and 2.2.16
kernels using 2.95.2 and I far as I have been able to see, I have had no
trouble with either. I have been using 2.2.18 since last Thursday, so
it is probably too early to tell for it. I could only wish some of the
other software worked as well!
