memory exhausted

Often, when trying to link my application, I get an error that memory is
exhausted and the link failed. I have 256mb of ram and the resulting
executale after a successful compile is 60mb. Even if I quit all other
applications, I get the same error. The only thing I can do is to logout
and login again.

Does this sound like a bug to you?

Also, should my link of my 60mb application really take 5-7minutes? I does,
every time. This is extremely poor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
