thanks, but of course this doesn't work:

- I get my mail via a .forward (From pcg@goof.com ...)
- how about getting mail via pop3? many pop3 daemons spoil the From_ line
- also, how about mail-dirs (no From_ line, like qmail)?

other mailing lists (that I get) add a special header or are better
distinguishable.. only egcs fails to work, and adding a filter that greps
the mail headers for "egcs" is not the kind of solution that I'd want
(but is the only working one for the mail I got today).

Some (helpful) mailers add a nice X-Envelope-From, but most people
cannot change their mailer configuration.

I got many mails with filter rules for procmail zfilter etc.. including
people that told me i'm too dumb to set up procmail (!).

the point was not to change my procmail filter twice per week... (ok, I
exaggerate), but once I set up a (working) rule, I don't want to change
it whenever someone uses a somewhat exotic (but perfectly legal)
