Linux 2.0.34-pre2/egcs 1.0.1 is OK

Unlike the 2.0.33 kernel, which crashed in vortex_open(), 2.0.34-pre2 runs
OK when compiled with egcs 1.0.1, options "-mcpu=pentium -mpentium -DCPU=586
-O6 -fomit-frame-pointer".  The update to the new 3c59x driver seems
to have done the trick.

Now, I can finally remove gcc 2.7.2 from my system:-) Congratulations,
everybody around.
