As soon as optimization is involved, gcc 2.8.0 dies when fed with our
sources, while both gcc 2.7.2 and egcs 971225 both (nearly) work without
problems.
On sparc-sun-solaris2.6 `ake bootstrap` fails with
toplev.c: In function `get_run_time':
toplev.c:955: `HZ' undeclared (first use this function)
toplev.c:955: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
toplev.c:955: for each function it appears in.)
Of course these are just some quick and personal impressions, but so
much for Richard Stallman's "cathedral" approach resp. "release seldom,
but stable". :(

Gerald
