EGCS-1.0.1 Woes...

Hi-

I tried applying Mark Mitchell's template patches to egcs-1.0.1, but I
got hopelessly lost in the process.  So for now I'm sticking with
egcs-971225 which seems to work pretty well (egcs-1.0.1 crashes on my
template code).

Sorry to be a pest, but here are some pesky questions I have:
Is there a lot that I'm missing by not using egcs-1.0.1?  Does anyone
have a working patch for updating the template stuff in egcs-1.0.1?
What's the timetable like for the next snapshot/release (which will
have these changes)?
