gcc-4.1.2 configuration failed

hello:

I'm trying to configure gcc in my objdir from a separate source
directory as recommended.
I've installed gmp via apt-get.

from:

ubuntu 6.06
gcc-4.1.2
i686-pc-linux-gnu

critical part of my config.log:
