Can't create _muldi3.o: Invalid bfd target

Hi All,
       I am installing gcc by following sequence

my working dir is            /filesure
my downloaded gcc is in      /filesure/gcc-2.95.1
I created a dir              /filesure/objdir
now I am going to objdir by  cd /filesure/objdir 
configuring by    ../gcc-.95.1/configure              
--prefix=/filesure

then I am running      make bootstrap

It is giving the following error messgage

Assembler messages:
FATAL: Can't create _muldi3.o: Invalid bfd target
make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is
1.

Stop.
make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is
2.


what may be the problem
