can't find the shared library

I compiled and installed gcc 3.01 on the host i686-pc-linux with
indicating the use of
the new "binutils" in the /usr/local/gnu/bin (old one is in the
directory /usr/bin, It seems
out of date to compile gcc 3.01). A simple code in c plus is compiled
and tested, but
the following message can be got.

[hjdan@casad4 tmp]$ ./testgcc
./testgcc: error in loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

I remember that gcc (<=2.95.3) found his library without any post
configuration such as ldconfig,
findutils(ld, ... etc.) problems ?

thanks in advance...
