GCC compilers

Hello !!

I am working in AVL India Software. We are working on certain CORBA related
development on Linux. But I do not have the c++  compiler on my system. So,
I searched thru gnu site and found the ftp site from where I could download
the latest Compiler set. But on ftp site, there are so many tar and gz
files, of many versions. Even for one version i.e. 2.9.5, there are so many
files. I am a bit confused, which ones to download and how to proceed ahead
after that.

It would be very nice if you can guide me on this topic.  I want the
compilers for C, C++ and JAVA.
