Possible dumb error ?

Hi,

I have just installed the g++ code for solaris2.6 onto my machine from :

http://www.sunfreeware.com/

gcc-2.8.1-sol26-sparc-local.gz  &  libstdc++-2.8.1-sol26-sparc-local. 

When I try and compile I get the following:

> g++ Pin.cpp
> g++: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory

We are assuming 'as' might be an assembler. Is this correct? If so which other
pieces are required to be installed. If not, any ideas what the error is 
reporting might be incorrectly installed.
