help on gcc

hi,
 
i wanted to install the GCC cross compiler for 
coldfire ( motorola processor). will the installation of GCC cross compiler for 
m68k-coff will work under coldfire development effectively. ( without affecting 
the performance).
 
any help on these are highly appreciated,
