No worries, it's not a *breakage*.

I have:

cmdlne-dM-M.o: \
 /tmp/hpautotest-gcc1/gcc/gcc/testsuite/gcc.dg/cpp/cmdlne-dM-M.c

so I'm not sure.  Shouldn't that match
"(^|\\n)cmdlne-dM-M[^\\n]*:[^\\n]*cmdlne-dM-M.c"?  Is this a case of
distribution-having-local-dejagnu-fixes-not-in-pristine-dejagnu-1.4.4 thing?
