The code compiles (well dies with an appropriate error) with
GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.2.5 20080702 (prerelease)
GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.3.3 20081120 (prerelease)
GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.4.0 20081213 (experimental) [trunk revision 140508]

REMOVE:kargl[248] gfortran42 -c l.f

    Included at l.f:2:

      subroutine aaa(a1,nla1,nlo1)

Error: INTERFACE procedure 'aaa' at (1) has the same name as the enclosing
procedure

Update to something that is newer than 4.1.x
