Check your linux distribution for pre-compiled binaries of gcc, and
  install those.

If your linux distro does not have pre-compiled binaries of gcc (all the
  ones I am aware of do), check the linuxppc website. If that fails, see
  gcc.gnu.org/fom_serv/cache/57.html
