Build of snapshots failed on Solaris 2.6

Before I go further, is this the correct place for this discussion?  I
feel like I may be spamming the wrong list, so if there is anywhere else
that I should take this or any other sources of information on build
problems on solaris please let me know.

Ok, I spoke too soon.  When I did a make install of the good build it
failed, so I wiped the objdir clean and started again, and now I'm getting
the seg fault again.  It may be that I just didn't pay enough attention to
the end of the build and it did fail, but I think that I saw it complete
correctly.  Checking my command history nothing has changed between
builds. I'm using gnu make version 3.77, here's the output from the two
versions of gcc that I've tried this on (on two different solaris 2.6
machines):

Reading specs from
/usr/local/gcc-2.8.1/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1/2.8.1/specs
gcc version 2.8.1

and

Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/gcc-2.95/specs
gcc version gcc-2.95 19990608 (prerelease)

The error I'm getting is:
