egcs_1_1_branch spice compile problem

   Is anyone else seeing this problem with g77 from egcs_1_1_branch cvs
building spice 2g6 (actually spice-2g6-9.src.rpm)? On linuxppc under
glibc 2.0.100, I am seeing...

egcs -g -O2 spice.o unix.o unix-mm.o libspice/libspice.a -g -O2 -lf2c -lm -lc -o spice

Any ideas why this is happening?
