Thanks for this contribution. I couldn't see how to do the static
initialization in the first attempts at vtables and I never came back
to it.  The check and initialize was the best that I could come up
with in the time.

I believe that it would be very useful to attack pointer
initialization issues but even more so to get CLASS arrays sorted out.

I remember that there was a thread on this whilst I was on vacation.
I tried to put a star next to it from my phone and obviously failed
because I now cannot find it.  Did this come to any conclusion?
