I don't think I am violating propriety by revealing that Andy sent me  
a 2-word private reply to my query on comp.lang.fortran as to whether  
he was listening and whether he agreed. The two words were both "yes".

While that, of course, isn't absolute proof, it helps give me  
confidence that I didn't overlook some subtle (or not so subtle)  
point that Andy had noticed.
