Dear All,

Thank you all for the views on alloca - Erik and I have noted same and 
will endeavour in the coming weeks and months to contemplate how to use 
alloca, if it is feasible.  In the mean time, we have something that 
works, which we intend to commit in the coming days; in time for the 
gcc-4.2 release.  Therefore, we would appreciate it if the 
correspondence for the next few days concerned itself with functionality 
and correctness of our submission.
