I have to say that I think that this is an extremely bad idea.  What is 
the status of patches so committed?  Trunk bears the label experimental 
but is sufficiently widely used as to provide a significant test of a 
patch on a timescale of ~1 week.  That cannot be said of this branch.  
You will have to submit the patch for review anyway. :-)

Whilst I noted Steve's suggestion that  I develop the module upgrade on 
fortran-experiments, I have no intention of doing this because it is a 
snare and a delusion in my opinion.
