Jerry,
   Thanks for the clarification. I got a gcc 4.1 snapshot build from
tonight's cvs to work with your patches as well. As soon as the Cray
pointer patch is available I'll give a build of xplor-nih a try (it
works fine with g95).
   One question. Are there any extra optimizations available for 
gfortran in 4.1 outside of just using -O3?
